We have all heard the saying, “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.”
Here is a lesson from my own personal observations, “… a lot of women are a lot like men!”
Take it from me, I should know! You see, I chose a stereo-typically “woman’s” career; or so was the thinking when I entered Nursing School in 1980 at the University of Maryland. Back then there were over 300 students in the program; 7 of us men.
Two things happened:
So you see, I have been a trend setter my entire life!
And along the way, I have made some genuinely unique observations, like; “women (while at work or with “just the Girls”) think nothing of eating from the same fork.”
Men find this repulsive yet (while in the woods) they will drink from the same flask, smoke from the same Cigar and bite from the same jerky.
But I digress… back to the point….
If women are a lot like men and the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, then, well, the way to a woman’s heart is… through a man’s stomach?
Something like that anyway?
The point is that I stumbled onto a truly unique way of showing the people I work with that I value and respect them… More than that… I make them Eggs-Static!
I feed them Omelets!
There is something magical about a made-to-order Omelet! It is more than a meal; it’s a commitment. The order-er and the maker are a team and both share in the joy of the process and the product!
There is also nurturing beyond that of nutrition.
Something small such as a front line worker who comes up to his or her “so called” Boss and orders their Omelet in the following way; “Can I get onions, green peppers, ham, and cheese?” allows the “Boss” the opportunity to become a human being and playfully say, “Would you like Eggs with that?”
In the end, a good time, and a good meal, was had by all….
Not sure if word had gotten out but later in the day someone came up to me and ordered the following… “I would like an omelet with onions, mushrooms, bacon, cheese and Eggs please…” to which I said, “we are out of eggs but everything else is fine!”
We both got a chuckle… In fact, we both were Eggs-Static!
