One of my areas of interest (and a Keynote address) is learning and teaching people how…“When Generations Collide…” to “Respect your Others.”

Along the way to this special knowledge base my New Millenium children have taught me that opening a webpage and listening to music on the Internet is the virtual world equivalent of opening Pandora’s box.

Once, I literally had to trash an old desk-top computer because of the viruses and malware obtained through one of those “share-ware” sites trading music back and forth.

Then, during my son’s first semester away at college; in fact his first day living alone, in the dorms, no family, just a semi-stranger of a room-mate and his laptop computer/internet access to keep him company the University IS department blocked his internet access.

Turns out he was a potential felon (yes, copyright infringement CAN be a felony) because he had some copy of some song by some artist somewhere on his computer compliments of some share-ware.

Naturally I came to think of internet music as the root of all evil, until now.

Ironically, my son introduced me to www.Pandora.com  and its “personalized radio.”  Nothing to down load; no sharing of files.  Just streaming music of my choice!

I am enjoying the ability to listen to just about any music from any genre I choose.

So, we can learn from each generation; from their mistakes as well as their successes.  We can learn, “When Generations Collide… to “Respect Your Others!”

It is said that the opening of Pandora’s Box unleashed many evils on mankind – ills, toils and sickness – but if you remember your Greek mythology; Pandora’s Box also unleashed HOPE!
