“Choose Your Attitude!”

We learned this lesson from the Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle Washington.

In a little book called “FISH Philosophy!” author, John Chrinstensen offers a workplace management system that promises a “remarkable way to boost morale and improve results!”

A more local and personal version of the “choose your attitude” lesson was taught to me from a produce stand; more specifically a family business by the name of T.G. Adams & Sons, Inc., an Apple and produce distributor.

This family business launched the political career of Senator Thurman Adams of Delaware (don’t tune me out, this isn’t about Delaware or politics; it’s about “choosing your attitude!”).

Senator Adams, a farmer at heart, but competitive in spirit was once invited to participate in a two-man cow milking contest at the Delaware State Fair.   When he lost he had this to say about his own performance and that of his competitor; “I came in second; the other guy came in next-to-last!”

Now THAT’s a great attitude!

Always the competitor; always a winner.

RIP Senator Adams and thank you for your 35-plus years of service to the State of Delaware.
